NAME IDEATIONS, BRANDING, AND TAGLINE DEVELOPMENT
Finding just the right name for your company, product, service, initiative, promotion (as well as a clear, descriptive tagline that hones in on what you really do and what you have to offer) is a critical aspect of marketing your business.
It’s quite an art form as your name needs to be clear or at least attention getting yet not be too limiting if you were to later decide to expand or change your service offering as your wishes change or the environment changes. We have successfully named a variety of companies and products ranging from a prestigious resort spa to a potato product and also helped reposition a financial-services company away from using its prior name with the principal’s name in it to try to shift the business to one where new clients would perceive the company as no having just one person qualified person who could meet their needs. This type of scenario will often develop when the founding principal may be approaching retirement or at least engaged in a succession plan and other members of his or her professional team need to be valued by client. Most of us have contacted companies named for their founders and felt that that individual was the only one really worth talking to—making it extremely difficult for the rest of the firm to blossom and prosper.
As more business continue to open, it becomes increasingly difficult to find a name that can be protected, so sometimes integrating some whimsy or fanciful language is what does the trick.
